Life Design Support
What is Life design support?
Students with disabilities may experience difficulties not only in their on-campus activities but also in their off-campus part-time jobs, socializing, leisure activities, and daily life. These are difficulties with shopping, housework, money management, scheduling, physical management, various procedures, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, how to deal with their disabilities and plan for their future life is a challenge in adolescence that overlaps with identity formation.
These issues are outside the scope of academic learning support at universities, but from the perspective of students as citizens of life, they are also things that need to be supported. Thus, the Abilities Support Center offers “life design support” to handle these matters.
The name was given with the intention of designing one’s own life and livelihood. In our past activities, we have provided the following support.

Interaction among students | Planning and implementation of opportunities for students with the same disabilities and problems to get together to exchange information and chat. |
Psychological test | Psychological testing (intelligence test, developmental disability screening, personality test, etc.) not only for assessment regarding disabilities, but also for how to understand yourself and how to interact with others. Some tests are available in English. |

After graduation
1. Life after graduation
While in college, your major task may be to complete your academic work, and you may be focused on that. However, expand your perspective a bit, and you will find that your life after graduation will continue long after you graduate. How to find a job, what kind of career development to pursue, what kind of life is sought beyond just employment, and how to build activities and leisure time outside of work. These matters will have a great impact on the way you live your life.
Some parts are an extension of college life, but others are not. Services such as consultations that were available at the university may no longer be available, and the support you were receiving also may have been unavailable. Therefore, it may be important to reconnect with off-campus support offices. In addition, it may also be helpful to learn the skills necessary for life after graduation while still in school.
If you have any concerns, please contact us at any time.
2. Career
The Student Support, Nagoya University has the Career Support Center, which provides support for finding a job and career development. It offers counseling sessions for transition to working life, opinion-exchange meetings with companies, individual consultations, various programs, and other events and support to help you not only find a job, but also gain knowledge and experience to live as a working member of society. You may want to attend one of these events in order to think about your life after graduation.
