Targets of Disability Services of the OSD

The Office for Students with Disabilities provides disability services for the eligble person. The criteria are listed below;

  • ・Being a student in Nagoya University, including students in Nagoya University Affiliated Upper and Lower Secondary Schools, applicants of Nagoya University
  • ・Having long-term or short-time disability
  • ・Applying the support by student him/herself
  • ・Being judged that the necessity of support is reasonable by the Disability Services Office

It is required to submit the materials to prove the necessity of support, such as disability certificate, medical certificate, professional observation, etc. After applying the support and submitting the materials, the OSD will inquiry students' difficulties and provide educational support based on each condition.

Almost every activity which recognized as a credit in curriculum is a target of disability services. Disability services will be provided in attending lectures, correcting the materials which related to lectures in library, doing experiments, attending fieldwork, field trip and extracurricular activities, etc. Disability services also include educational activities which are presented by university, services provided by university, such as the access to University's Health Administration Office, library, psychiatric consultation, information of scholarship, etc. However, support for non-educational activities, such as commute, physical support, activities for personal purposes (e.g. an individual tutor), are not provided.

  • The OSD in Nagoya University aims to insure that equal opportunities are provided to all students with disabilities and that they are as valued in their dignity and enjoy the same basic campus lives as the students without disabilities.
