For Parents

The Office for Students with Disabilities in Nagoya University have provided academic support for students with various kinds of disabilities so far. In detail, we provided supports for students with visual impairments and disorders, hearing impairments and disorders, orthopedic and motor impairments, disabilities caused by medical conditions, and developmental disorders. For students with hearing impairments and disorders, we provided real-time captioning services. For students with orthopedic and motor impairments, we provided on-campus mobility assistance and assistance for collecting materials. For students with developmental disorders, we had consultations for faculty staff members and made collaboration with them under agreement of students themselves or their parents. We did various activities to improve academic environments for students with disabilities. We are also improving accessibility on campus and implementing universal design.

'The Act on Promotion of Resolution of Discrimination on ground of Disability' was enforced in April, 2016. After enactments of this law, provision of reasonable accommodation will be legal obligation for national universities in Japan. Nagoya university will ensure the equality between students with disabilities and students without disabilities on education and research activities(※). The Office for Students with Disabilities are trying to improve these academic environments. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

These changes do not fundamentally lower or alter the standards.
