Nagoya University has been making efforts for Students with Disabilities not to be disadvantaged in academic campus life because of their disabilities. For achieving this purpose, Nagoya University set up the Office for Students with Disabilities under the Center for Student Counseling. The Office for Students with Disabilities makes efforts to ensure the same academic environment for all students regardless of having disabilities or not. The Office for Students with Disabilities has four staff members including a clinical psychologist, a coordinator for support for students with disabilities, and a sign language interpreter. Our tasks are below; 1) we provide one-stop service for support for students with disabilities, 2) we make advices to, collaborations with, contacts to the Faculties and Departments to which the student belongs, and support the Academic Staff who teach the students with disabilities, 3) we recruit supporters for students with disabilities, give trainings to them and send them to students with disabilities, 4) we promote barrier free campus environment and 5) we hold campaigns for promoting the understanding on disability, such as lectures, study meetings and workshops for staff in Nagoya University and symposium in cooperation with local community.
